    Someone Had A Close Call

    Hi All,

This weekend at a local Gun show, I picked up this memento of a close call.
No doubt an AIF veteran held onto it as a keepsake.

The charger is a Kynoch made Mk III
The .303 cartridge head stamps are R17L VII
The embedded projectile is a 7.92mm.

There is another picture 'doing the rounds' which if I remember correctly was originally posted by Peter Laidlericon
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

    Afghan rifle

Afghan made "No5 Enfield" rifle bent sideways from bullet impact.
    Not sure what hit it?

That is very cool! Wonder if the bullet was nearly spent or it it passed through another clip first? I wouldn't have thought one cartridge would stop a close range bullet. Reminds me of the movie "Support Your Local Sheriff" where the town council hand James Garner the tin star of the last sheriff and it has a bullet stuck in it. He says, "This star must have saved that man's life" and they reply, "Well, it would have if it weren't for all them other bullets flying in from everywhere".......

It could have been in an ammo can and not on someone's person.
