Staring with the Snider it became pretty clear that the cartridge is probably the key component of the system. Comparisons of the LE with other types should probably start with ballistics. As we all know the Britishicon wanted better ballistics when they designed the P-13. I wonder what the best parameters are to compare Mk VII with 30-06, 8mm, 7.62x54R, etc, etc.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I dunno about perfection... Taken point by point there are rifles out there that will beat the Lee Enfield at every aspect. However, no other single rifle can beat the Lee Enfield as a total package.

Who needs to head over to the Sovieticon rifles section for an argument about 'the best bolt action service rifle'.

The No4 is definitely better than the Springfield ... He said before retreating to his slit trench and waiting for the incoming...

We all know when the English finally did come up with a good design with the P14 they had to come to America to get it built. And then we had to fix the problems so it used a rimless cartridge and held one more REAL GOOD cartridge. HOLD-ON INCOMING...
