SMLE Implement, Action. picture and copyright

I was asked on FB about the particular uses for the different parts of a SMLE Implement, Action. I pulled this picture from Google linked to a South African online auction site which had in 2016, the tool for sale. The admin of the FB page pulled me up for copyright infringement. So in order to set everyone straight i'm asking if anyone knows who owns the the copyright to the image and text or recognises the publication it comes from. I believe the image is from the LoC 1903 but the text could be from a privately published manual. If anyone knows where this comes from i'd like to know, so I can give due credit.

    Cheers

More than happy for you to use my picture (used when I was selling some) which you are free to annotate as you wish.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Roy, IMHO you did nothing wrong: published Crown copyright material has protection for 50 years from date of publication [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_copyright].

It's from p.426 of Skennertonicon's Lee-Enfield, (final edn) so arguably the text is the copyright bit.

Thanks everyone. I used the image and text as I was on the go and did not get my Implement, Action out to picture it. I will gladly credit Skennertons publication, (which is now opened to the appropriate page)

If you used the image for educational purposes then afaik you broke no copyright laws.
