    Mystery Cleaning kit???

I noticed this weapon cleaning kit for sale on eBayUK and it's not of a style that I've seen before. The Vendor has listed it as being possibly Britishicon but I'm not so sure because there is what could be a maple leaf on the canvas pouch/cover and so I wonder if it's of Canadianicon origin? I'm not planning to purchase it myself but I am interested to hear exactly what this cleaning kit is intended for.

    Many thanks for any replies.

No, that's not ours. Even for our government, it's too cheap looking.

Brush width indicates machine gun of sorts.

Length of rod and size of bronze [?] brush indicates large calibre handgun. Rest of loops don't look like made for more rods. Contents of tins and reverse of the cover could provide more information.

Daan, there are some more photos available if you click on the link in post 1. However, there is 4x2 flannelette in one tin and the other tin is empty. Perhaps it's a non military cleaning kit?

OK. Brush seems not to be bronze, so no serious scrubbing, indicating handgun again; although few military handgun cleaning kits have a brush like that, usually just a rod with a slot for 2x4. Wording on the 2x4 reads American, Brits won't use "Government" on anything, they usually ignore it. Might be a replacement pack 2x4.

The closest thing to it in nylon is the FNFAL/L1A1 Cleaning kit, I probably have to agree thats it is an enthusiast shooters private cleaning kit, made up specially on Military lines.

Isn't that a Swissicon cleaning kit for the STG 57?

Cobbled together with many parts probably, but it was the overlaying of the format of the pouch to which I refer, similar to the civvy version shown at the start. Can't beat the proper thing though

Thanks for all the replies chaps. The reason for starting the thread is that I've not seen another cleaning kit like it before but I wondered if others, with more experience, had; it would seem not.
