    SKS ID

    Hi guys, new guy here... so my SKS has the triangles... so its chinese ? but it has no chinese characters before the serial numbers....

    any help id ing this would be appreciated !!!

    Its Chinese. SKS' made at Jianse arsenal (factory 26) prior to 1962 didn't have the Chinese characters. Your rifle was made in '58 according to the s/n.

    thanks for the help ! my sks doesnt have the chinese symbols before the serial number so i got a lil thrown..

    1961 (6th year of production) is the first appearance of the '56type'(五六式) designation on the Chinese guns. The Chinese date info on this site is very outdated.

    For the most accurate, and up-to-date info go to: sks-files.com or chinesesks.weebly.com

    The serial number and arsenal stamp identify your carbine as a 1957 production.

    thanks for the info guys !!!

    cleaned the SKS up .. replaced the gas piston, return rod, and spring ( they were all missing )

    and went to the range !! gun shoots well.. had a blast with it !

    An SKS is almost indestructible and most dependable! As you noted, they are a lot of fun!
