    Fake guns on armslist.

Hi all, I know this probably is news to no one here but I got scammed on armslist last week, twice actually. I'm man enough to admit I screwed up and should have gone with my gut instead of chasing the good deals but I don't want anyone to suffer the same fate. The two guns they were using were an antique swedish carbine serial # 8052-mauser oberndorff and an Amberg gewehr 98 from 1917-serial # 4592. I wanna say they were slick operators but they weren't I just let my guard down when I shouldn't and they took me for $835 collectively. We'll see if any of it comes back from the credit card company or the police but I just wanted to give y'all a heads up.

    Good warning.
I watch my local Armslist because a few of the shops I frequent advertise there.
I would avoid buying outright like the plague. That site is Scam City.

Can you tell us how the scam happened? I normally stick to shooters & avoid the more collectible expensive stuff. I'm afraid to get scammed myself. Tons of fakes out there.

Basically they negotiated a price with me, secured payment and then came up with excuses about why they couldn't send it. Its honestly embarrassing to see how obvious it was in hindsight, I just got blinded by a good deal. The good news is I got 500 of it back via my credit card so if you pay with paypal ALWAYS use your credit card it is worth the extra fees!
