Someone also f****d up that swiss rifle too in the first photo... Too bad.
I own a bunch of milsurp but a few of my favorites are my Lithgow smle 1942, Argentine 1909 engineer Mauser carbine and my newest favorite, my Swiss K11... It's a special rifle with a troop tag and the most accurate I own.

This phrasing, or something similar, is the basic lie to oneself used by many people starting down the slippery slope that ends in outright fraud. It cannot be "returned" to a configuration (as a carbine) that it never had!

    Eaglelord17 expressed the situation perfectly.

It starts as falsification - the notorious "returned to correct original configuration" - becomes faking when the result is pushed as "original" - and finally ends as fraud when the fake original is sold as genuine for an enhanced price.
