IF it turns out that the person who owns the guns has done nothing wrong and broken no laws is law enforcement likely to investigate who may have made the allegations and why?

No, at least here they don't. They look for easy convictions as that's how they make headway in career. If it doesn't work they just drop it and leave it. Destroy your reputation and just walk away.

Go to "Seattle is Dying" and watch that sad tale. It is liberal California progressives ruining another state. The people in charge are so stupid that nothing makes sense. If I were 10 years younger, I'd be in Tennessee or New Mexico right now.

Well, now. We've had a great discussion but let us remember that the forum excludes discussions of politics in order to prevent the predictable brew up. Thanks!

    All the best,

I was wondering what sort of cost, per gun, would it be for law enforcement to determine if any of these guns have ever been used in crime? There must be a financial cost, per gun, for law enforcement to carry out whatever tests it deems necessary but what is it? I haven't got a clue if the cost would be $100 per gun, $1000 or $10,000 per gun to test but there must be some sort of ball-park figure. Is anyone able to give some sort of idea what would be the cost, per gun, to test if it has ever been used in crime, please?

I would think they make a ballistic sample. (fired bullet W/ rifling marks, and the fired case) then they do a by calibre computer data base search comparing rifling marks, extractor marks, firing pin marks, extraction and chamber marks, etc. Add up the man/hours - at a guess. probably at least 10 man/hours per gun - and the cost becomes obscene.

But then, it's the taxpayers footing the bill, so who (besides the taxpayers) cares?
