Beautiful rifle! You did well! I see them often here in the States for 2-2.5x that price.

What puzzles me the most is how the shop came to the asking price??? Obviously it was priced way under value.....so I would guess shop owner had no idea what to price it at and what he was even selling. Taking that into consideration.....if he thought it was just a run of the mill WW2 surplus rifle in good shape with a kinda cool looking scope on it, that would be overpriced!! Living in an age with unlimited resources of info, I'm amazed how these pricing mistakes are still made, especially "a gun shop". Possibly older folk with no internet would be a logical answer.
By the way a lovely rifle.....everybody is a little jealous except for me!!!!!

So, here is the current follow up about one week on:

The gun store owner told me that he asked the owner if there was a chest or crate, but he said there wasn't. He does have some more ammo for it, however and he will give that to me. The owner said he bought this in the 1960s at a gun store. I believe it because that would have made him about 33 to 36 years old at that time.

I saw on the thread some questions about pricing. They told me they priced it this way because the owner wanted it sold on consignment quickly, he had no interest in it going to his kids.
Also the store itself deals mostly in modern "tactical" rifles, and they came up with that price because the LGS owner "didn't know if the mounting bracket being mismatched would ruin the value." They do a high volume of modern rifles and they do a lot of AR builds, so I just don't think this was very high on the priority list in terms of researching value.

So in the end it was just decided on rather quickly and was a price that the original owner was more than happy with.

The store does 15% on consignments, so I am assuming the original owner is getting about 1625 dollars for it.

Thank you! Do you know a good source for these? I suspect they can be found on eBay?

    You did very well!
I had found a No4T barreled action for 20 bucks and received donated pads and am still over what you paid in my restoration from scope, wood and the rest of the parts to finish it. Mine is a COMPLETE mismatch so again you did VERY well at just a mismatch scope and bracket!
    Right place right time, congrats!!

    Range report asap!!!

    Will do!

Do you need a mounting bracket for your Enfield?

The LGS owner is liquidating another estate and there was a bracket thrown into a box that looked just like the one on this rifle. He asked me to rifle through the box (pun intended).

It has a serial number on it, and looks old and used.

I'm happy to give you their info. I'm not sure what these are worth, but it appears to be original.

If you bought it just on spec and did well...you could sell it and make a little. It works out to being a shooter service to fellows...

Could you post the numbers on the bracket here? They've been matched up before...
