    Lewis Gun Accessories

    Hi

I wonder if someone could give me an idea on the value of the following items? I have looked for these items for sale on the internet but have been unsuccessful in finding any current listings for them with exception of the magazines.

I know the seller and want to offer a fair price!

1: Is a Canvas and webbing Lewis magazine Bucket faintly marked: carrier magazines Lewis .303. in gun 1917.

2: Two Lewis gun magazines (I have found some prices for these in the U.K around £150 each)

    3: Lewis gun anti-aircraft sight front &rear

4: Leather spare parts wallet dated 1918 with assorted tools and spares.

5: A 1937 pattern type webbing pouch, marked with a L, with assorted tools and spare parts. I do remember these being sold some years back by World Wide Arms in the UKicon and IMA in the U.S And also there being some debate to their origin.

    Thanks

A few months old this thread and it may have been resolved by now but I have only just noticed this thread so here are my thoughts:

I think that you have this the wrong way round; it is the seller's responsibility to clearly state their price of the wares of which they are offering for sale, in my opinion. The seller must have some idea of the price of which they will accept for their goods and if they do not they should not offer them for sale. The other golden rule is not to mix business and friendship because if you do all sorts of problems may arise. Let the seller come up with a value and if they can't, try to suggest places where they may get help with an independent valuation.

There is nothing more off-putting for me when I see an item for sale and I see no indication of a price, only "Open to Offers" or worse still "Price on Application" which normally means, when translated into plain English, that the item is going to be ridiculously expensive.

I would add that something is only worth what you are willing to pay for it.
