    Reproduction Sten cocking handles

I don’t think this has been mentioned on here before and thought it might be of interest. Someone is making reproductions of the pre-Mk5 type Sten cocking handles:

Would I be right in thinking most MkII Stens would have been factory fitted with a MK2 cocking handle?

A variety of cocking handles were made. I suppose that the Mk. II would have been the most common prior to the introduction of the Mk. V, and the widespread conversion of carbines to use it. Main casings without the locking hole aren't common.
When I made my semi auto version, I made a Mk. II type cocking handle for it. The semi auto bolt has a shallow hole for the cocking handle, so a Mk. II type made sense, a functional Mk. V being impossible.
