De Lisle carbine reproduction

I've been searching for awhile now for a De Lisle carbine and hit many a dead end and false promise. Stumbled across this thread:

and thought this might be a good forum to ask if anyone knows how I might be able to either find one for sale (been diligent around GB,etc), import one (non NFA of course), or have someone build one in the US. Read that since there is a tube around a barrel, that it's a non-starter for importation, since the tube is considered a suppressor by ATF, even though the barrel is continuous and extends past the end cap, making the tube in effect a hand guard. Makes zero sense to me, since you have a similar setup with the Kriss Vector carbine with the barrel actually being slightly recessed into the hollow shroud.
I've got a pristine No. 1 Mk III for a donor, just not the capability. Any help, advice, direction would be greatly appreciated.

Here in the US, a shop called Special Interest Arms built a version of the De Lisle for awhile. Good work, but not exact replicas as they used a magazine insert and a standard length bolt rather than a short bolt, which can lead to some minor feeding issues. They come up on GB from time to time and are very quiet. I've attached a photo of mine.

De Lisle's are NFA items. That "tube" is in fact a suppressor, as original De Lisle's used ported Thompson SMG barrels and were purpose designed to be as quiet as possible. Although some look-alike reproductions have been built using solid barrels, I can't say I see the point in purchasing one of those in the US unless in an area where suppressors are illegal.

Another shop called Deviant Arms (http://www.facebook.com/deviantarms) is working on building up some De Lisle's built to original spec. I'm not sure where he's at in the process, but he might be a starting point on getting a build done.

Absolutely, if Canada had a tax stamp to allow Class 3 and FA then the gum't would be rich overnight from the guys applying. If you can own it why not?

SIA, is no longer in business making the De Lisle. Nor is Valkyrie Arms.
And very familiar with NFA as I own several (and waiting for more tax stamps to grind their way through the process).

If you have a pristine No. 1 Mk. III, please don't butcher it to make a Delisle reproduction. There are lots of already sported SMLEs out there. All you need is from the receiver ring back. Originals were made from salvaged rifles, not pristine issue ones.
