    No 4 rifle

I was able to return this rifle to a decent semblance of shape with the specific help of a forum member. I worked everything else out from what I learned from experience regarding previously completed projects and specific information from prior authors.

With a few minor sight adjustments things began to fall into place nicely with no cause for alarm regarding function or a trip back to the work bench. This particular rifle type is most interesting to me because of the interaction of all the related working parts. So much in that regard that Ill continue to tinker about with them when the opportunity presents itself. Thanks for looking.

Is that a "Waisted" sight protector? Or the stamped one with inserts on the sides? Looks nice, clean...

It's the S marked stamped type. I would have thought it would have had the heavier constructed one. The barrel is a two groove manufactured by Savage that may have been replaced at one time that's in pretty good shape so maybe it was switched at the same time to the lighter type.
The top band is exactly opposite, very springy and hard to work with. The upper swivel is crudely welded, I'm not sure if it was manufactured like that or someone repaired it along the way. The left wall of the body has 1942 next to the maker so maybe everything is a mix of old and new,I'm not entirely sure.

It could have been done anywhere along the way by anyone. Doesn't matter, it's looking fine and yours now... I like the round cocking piece, just because it's so scarce now.

    This one's on my '42 LB No4 MK1*. Wartime production I think.

Recently fitted a Weaver K4-1 that I found at the LGS for $20.00. Haven't shot it at distance yet.
