    Celebrating "Traitors' Day"

Yesterday, I had fun celebrating my Rights & Freedoms and enjoyed a couple of 'project' rifles.

("For U.S. Kragicon Army and Winchester Model 1895 Rifles" ... Hmmmm .... looks like REM-UMC had difficulty getting with the program)!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. The Model 1896 Kragicon restoration was the marriage of a barreled-action with wood from a 'cut-down' rifle. The nice 'cut-down' stock was stretched with a reproduction forearm spliced under the barrel-band.

The Model 1899 Remington-Lee was one of the 2,001 Michigan National Guard rifles. It had been turned into a Lamp for the State's Quarter-Master General. It was missing its bolt and magazine.
A messed up commercial Remington sporting rifle, (just above the Michigan serial number range), was the 'donor' of the bolt and two magazines.

I think my two 'rescue rifles' turned out rather well.

I've seen those advertised but my wood working skills aren't equal...

It's hard to find a .30-40 cal. Remington-Lee. It is rare to find one with a 'non-cracked' stock.

(If finances allow down the road, I may donate the Remington-Lee with some family items, to the Michigan Historical Museum, in Lansing).
