Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. A few of our blokes were extras in The Virgin Soldiers, filmed in Malaya in 1968/9. The ones playing on the beach were all from the LAD. You can tell who were the real crunchies as they were all nut brown and did the drills correctly. I'll watch it again one day

That was ours, the mine on the beach. The train ambush was filmed at the old sidings at GEMAS. Yep, must see it again when a bit of nostalgic humour comes along

The top picture there is Selerang Barracks. Famous as the place in the wartime photos where the army were housed after capture. As are the high ceiling barrack rooms shown during the filming. Also utilised UKicon, Aust and NZicon blokes on courses in Singapore.

I employed Leslie Thomas's son in a shop I was running in the 1980's.

A lot of interesting firearms were used in star wars.
Some of the star trooper blasters were actually 1921 Thompsons (yes..REAL 21's) and other model T guns as well.
Luc's pistol was a Mauser 96 broomhandle with a MG sighting scope and a MG 13 flash hider. I have photo's of it somewhere here
Sterlings were also used in different states of dress.
Made me cry to see some of the collectables chopped up but it was that or the furnace.
