    Stripper clips

Would Swedishicon Mauser stripper clips work with the type 38? I bought them for my M1917 rifle as they work well with .30-06 rounds. Considering they were designed for a 6.5mm cartridge as well, why wouldn't they work?

I also have a lot of stripper clips which came with a crate of surplus 8x57 ammo. Would those work as well?

Mauser cartridges share the same case base and rim diameter. The basic case was changed to accommodate clients. The clip outside dimensions might differ according to the firearm, but all the Mauser rifles should use the same stripper clip.

The 30-06, 7.62, 45ACP, etc, are the same base size, leading to a question: is the 30-06 just a lengthened 8 x 7,65, the 45ACP shortened a lot?

The 6.5x55 has a larger base and rim diameter than other mauser cartridges. Base and rim diameter for the Swede are .480".
The semi rimmed 6.5x50 Arisakaicon has a base diameter of .447" and a rim diameter of .466".
Whether Swede clips will work in an arisaka T 38 depends on several things. Will the outside dimensions of the Swede clip allow it to fit in the Arisaka clip slot properly. Those protrusions on the edges of stripper clips are there to control insertion depth. Too much or not enough may keep the rounds from loading smoothly.
Will the inside dimensions hold the smaller cartridges good enough to keep the rims from jumping track or binding? 6.5x55 cases have thicker rims(.059") than 6.5x50 Arisaka(.045").
    Try them and see.

I know that Swedishicon Stripper Clips worked in my Arisakaicon Type 99 when I had it, I suspect it would work for the Type 38 as well but I have never tried.
