    Information on Sporterized 1903s etc.

Not Bubba sporters but sporters by folks like Griffin and Howe and Sedgley.

Are there any books or websites dedicated to things like this? I'm finding myself drawn to them more and more and would like to learn more.

    Thanks all!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. There was a gun shop here in Pittsburgh Pa area Flags gun shop. they made some wonderful actual beautiful looking sporters. Think you would have a major size book on all those types.

That’s my hope. I’ve just never heard of it if there is one.

If you mean "classic" sporters, you couldn't do any better than to pick up the two books written by the late Michael Petrov - Custom Gunmakers of the 20th Century. Excellent books!!

I found volume one and two for about $225 total.
That's a mighty expensive addition to the ol' reference library!! Should be some fun reads though.

Michael P. was my "go to guy" for any questions on "classic sporters". He passed away a few years back and I still miss him. Always glad to help, too.
