Bren question - Kings Crown??

Hi there, could someone please humour me and explain the significance of the 'Kings Crown' when buying a Bren....had a look online but couldn't easily find the information. Thanks in advance

It’s a feature of the earlier guns. I think it was deleted in early/mid 1940 and replaced with the Enfield cypher. Earlier guns are usually more desirable from a collector perspective. Dealers like to hype them as ‘rescued from Dunkirk’ guns.

To confuse maters, there are some that had the Kings Crown removed sometime after WW2.

The crown, date and Enfield logo took 12 minutes to engrave using the pantograph engraver so was the first thing to go in about Sept/Oct 1940 (at the end/start of the C-D number range). during the start of the 'simplification of small-arms' era.

Peter, did any other British firearms of the same era have a similar crown engraved on them? Thinking logically they would have but things don't always work logically.

No2 revolver and No4 rifle but they were roll impressed. They were just a continuation of the older No1 rifles
