Potential Griffin and Howe Sporter - Thoughts?

I think I stumbled onto a legit Griffin and Howe. The cheekpiece is throwing it off a little from others I've seen. That buttpad is definitely a newer addition.

My (outdated) copy of the SRS actually shows some serial numbers near this one (1427734) being sent to Griffin and Howe.

What do you guys think? These pictures are from the seller. (Note to self: I like the blue background for these gun pictures!)

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I'm going to say thats not a legit G&H. G&H normally marked their rifles on top of the barrel. Also the 1903's ive seen had the arsenal markings linished off the reciever ring and stippled. They would've filled that rear sight base spline too. Metal finish not what I'd expect from G&H either.

I'm leaning that way myself. I'm thinking it's just Griffin and Howe "flavored."
    Still a nice looking rifle!

Nice enough to invite back to my place for a bit. I’ll post some more pics when it arrives.

    Anyone getting an SRS hit?

Woof. Ever heard the phrase, "good from afar but far from good?"
This was...not a good purchase. Can't win 'em all!

Griffin and Howe? More like Good Grief, and How!

That was sort of my thought too looking at my copy.
This stock is definitely not Griffin and Howe quality though. The barrel isn’t marked either.
