    Sad News. Confiscation.

It's underway folks. All because an Australianicon criminal went berserk and killed people here. Legal firearms owners, (in my case for 52 years), are now having their guns taken away or being forced into a "Buy Back" situation. Check it out here ...... Changes to firearms law - prohibited firearms | New Zealand Police
M1icon carbines are now illegal and if you don't tell the powers that be you have one or comment on social media about your situation you can expect a 4.00am raid. Some moral support is required! Cheers all. Mike. N.Z.

    Mikey,
Sadly we have all experienced that pain barrier in our past too.
Knee jerk reactions to what is basically high profile killings by a tiny minority in time.
Commonsense should prevail and regulation should be applied on certain weapons, but not a sweeping cull with total disregard to what is peoples livelihood out in the boonies in most cases!!

Well John Winston Howard did the same to us after Port Arthur quite unconstitutionally ripping semi autos all types not just military styled ones shotguns included even pump action shotties copped it be prepared for allot of pain bloke the Greens are still after our guns and if you have more than one of the same caliber expect to write a Magna Carta getting another one. Its just pure BS god help us if Australiaicon ever needs a Militia as we are at the stage now we would be better off throwing rocks at the invaders because thats where we are headed with this pack......F B's. As you can imagine this topic winds us up pretty good here in the West as we are stuck in the neck more than the rest of the country....

I read the NZicon collector newsletters fairly often, so I know that this was a pre planned event.

The NZ collectors associations were informed that changes were coming, but the NZ government and NZ police refused to consult or discuss the planned changes.

As usual they just wait for an event which they can grandstand.

And the junior socialist leader will be quite aware of "usefull idiots"...

preplanned event??? massacre or gun turn in?

living on a island to have ones collector items value to be determined by some anti-gun committee is massacre of ones rights. Not like they can drive over to next state and sell, god knows can't carry them on a plane. I feel for you Mikey! Simple minds think written rules make things perfect, we been killing each other since we figured out pick a rock up and throw it. Earth is not utopia nor will it ever be unless we ban humans.

All of this will flow over to the US via the anti-gun crowd here using the great things the Australianicon government is doing to protect their people from a gun (not people). Hate seeing this happen to y'all

using the hammer on the symptoms doesn't solve the illness, like breaking a wrist, so they cut off everyone's arms. Simple solutions suited best for simple people. So sorry to see this happen.

    Mike,
All your years in law enforcement surely you know all the BAD GUYS will turn their arms in. The NO QUESTIONS ASKED surrenders are a great way to make some extra cash on those stolen or to be stolen guns one needs to no longer worry about.
Been reading your link trying to understand how to acquire a collectors license.
Is it saying 'If' one can qualify, that a integral part of each gun would have to be stored away at a different secure location ?
It's hard to read between the lines because of all the Fees that would be charged for each and every step... No matter what path one attempts.
Mikey's WWII Museum looks as though it would require more paperwork than a itemized list of the US Debt.
I believe I seen that a commercial carbine carries the same value as a USGI made one.

    No social media!
Invest in PVC pipe and caps.

I fear the US is also moving in a bad direction. Washington state recently seeing many new obstacles.

Thanks for your input guys. Charlie, the exact situation is not yet known as they plan a second round of reforms when they ascertain how the voluntary hand in scheme goes and that started today. Not many people turned up. Marcus, the matter of exporting collectable items to friends overseas has been looked into but no chance at the moment, the fine print in the new legislation prohibits that, all must be destroyed! What is annoying most of us is the complete lack of understanding by our government. For example, if you bought a brand new AR yesterday they will pay you 95% of what you paid, however if you have a never rebuilt M1icon that has a few war wounds, bumps, scratches and some pitting etc, they will pay you nothing as it's old and as a result, worth nothing. A complete lack of understanding. Mike.

Mike, in New Zealandicon, do/will owners have the option to have their firearms deactivated if they wish to keep them, rather than hand them in? I assume that there is a such thing as a "deact", in NZ, and that NZ has a spec on what work would have to be done to make one?
