    M1 Carbine Loose Gas Cylinder

Hey guys, I need help with something.

I just bought an original Inland M1icon Carbine. It has a flip sight, type 1 band, etc.

I test fired 10 rounds through it the other day and it functioned fine.

However, I forgot that I had previously noticed the swaged gas cylinder was loose. It has a small amount of rotational play, but no play in the axis of the bore.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, or a gunsmith with a decent turn around time who would do a good job with it, and at a decent price? I know...it’s hard to find cheap fast and good, haha.

Any ideas about what I should do? Or is the only option to rebarrel?

    Thanks
    Jake

I tried to fix a loose cylinder once without good result. There were NOS ones available some time ago too but installing them without the correct press could be a problem and then you need to roll the front into the recess... As Brian suggests, if there's a guy that does them then save worry about your original old carbine...send it to the right guy.

Being so little movement.... Gotta be some way to save it.
May be able to use a punch and stake the loose swaged area.
I wonder if one of those pipe crimping tools (Like the plumbers use) would work.. IDK
!! Ball Peen!! Tap and Rotate.... Tap and Rotate

Good question for Manteo or BobG.
