    Trouble with Basic Functions...

    Hi All,

When I make a post, all the proper icons are showing (Fonts, HTML link, IMG, etc.) but they are unclickable. It's like the whole panel is just an image, IE, clicking does nothing and the icons show no feedback. Same with the smilies. I can still use code, but I have to manually enter the start and close tags.

I've tried looking on my CP, but don't see any way to check if HTML or BBS code even exists.

Also, I never get notifications on new posts.

    Russ

Have you tried "clearing your browsing history" on your computer?

I'd forgotten about that, just did it and nothing's changed. Here's a pic showing HTML is turned off and I have no available way to turn it back on:

I think that you will need to ask Doug about this one.

    Hi..

    Post #3 pic isn't a problem, it's normal.

It simply means that most people can't use HTML coded text in this thread because it's a way that viruses can get injected into forums.

I checked your account and everything is fine. I logged in under your name and viewed posts and threads, everything is fine.

Something must have changed on your end?

Have you changed your browser or something in its settings?

Something in your system or setup must be blocking the interpretation of the standard vBulletin code permitting input from your cursor, but I have no idea what it could be.

Please provide complete system platform specs, including browser, computer type, OS type etc. and I'll ask our tech support people what they think.

Failing that, if you give me Teanviwer access, I'll set up a time to connect remotely with you and see if I can see anything obvious.

    Regards,
    Doug

    Doug,

I'm a Win7x64 holdout using the latest "old" Firefox version, 56.0. I totally detest the newer upgraded FF version, same with Win10.

What's odd is the panel shows up fine but only as a picture file. Clicking anywhere on the panel does nothing.

Look normal but with zero functionality. I can still add the BBS code tags and make things work, but it's a PIA.

    Hi Russ.

Well, other than using TeamViewer from my end and logging into your computer to have a look, I don't know what else to suggest.

There are no other reports from over 30,000 registered members of similar behavior, so it has to be something in the configuration on your end.

Have you tried booting in safe mode and testing your Windows 7 in that configuration to see if it works then?

    Regards,
    Doug

Russ, can't you try logging on with another computer, either someone you know's computer or, perhaps, a public computer such as in a library? You should be able to log-in on any computer with your username and password. If alls well on another computer it has to be something on your own "personal" computer causing the problem.

I need to try this, thanks. I've got another 'puter in the house I can try.

Sorry it's been awhile. Smiley: Link

Seems to work from my other 'puter, I'll need to do some poking around on the laptop...
