New member. If this is in the wrong place, my apologies. Just a guy that enjoys the craftsmanship of the older days when soldiers were given the absolute best that could be made. I'll be lurking in the background a bit if you don't mind. Thanks for steering me here painter777.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Welcome. Interesting comment on "the older days when soldiers were given the absolute best that could be made" Considering how stingy governments were with their troops sometimes, not sure how accurate that is or was. But the stuff remains awesome whatever the reason you like it. I tend to collect what I can afford. First it was bayonets, then the rifles to go with them, currently it's helmets, entrenching tools, munitions and canteens. Entrenching tools seems to be the least collected of all so still some bargains out there.
