I have to say Imbel make excellent Fals, top notch quality.

Our SP examples we're based on US civilian rifles, lacking the auto sear and and bolt carrier sear trip extension.

A mate used to have one of the Imbel Para Fals in .22, it was the rifle that encouraged me to pursue a .22 semi kit for my L1A1s.

Well, you should actually be able to do it by having the barrel turned...and you'll need the HK Breech mech or Imbel...and of course mags. Would look like a standard rifle.

I've given up looking, but does anyone remember a few years back when someone here posted images of a bitsa Franken Fal, .22 semi auto build.

Folding stock, solid barrel, Fal reciver, inch pattern trigger group, HK blow back bolt group etc...

I seem to recall the owner had issues with the odd inadvertent 'burst of automatic' .

Anyone with a better memory than me (just about everyone), or better search skills?
John, Just thinking out the box, maybe it was in the .22 Forum ? or maybe Gunboards ?

    Hi Geoff,

Still searching, maybe it was in the .22 section, problem is it was a question posted mid thread by a UKicon chap who had issues with this build occasionally firing more than one round per pull of the trigger ..

I just can't find the bloody thing.

Just found this thread... It was my Franken-FAL. (Are you sure you didn't see it on FALFiles?)

The unwanted but equally entertaining burst firing was cured by cutting the chamber (& hence rim recess) slightly deeper. The bolt hitting the back of case occasionally set one off! Was eventually diagnosed by looking at the back of the fired cases...

The barrel was an Anshutz that had been re-purposed from it's original home. No idea who built it originally, but I'm about to embark on the same project again... (A friend of mine now owns the original one.)

    Hi Nick,

I was beginning to think I had dreamt it up!

Any chance you could post a few pics here and love to hear some more information on your new build.

Will this one be based on an L1A1 receiver and TMH?

I'll try and find some pictures of the old one....

I have a new L1A1 receiver, an Imbel Para lower half and a L12A1 bolt assembly for the new build. I need to find a blueprint for an L1A1 barrel for the new build, but I can pretty much make something up if I need to! I also need to get some dimensions from the chamber adapter for the chamber end.

    Here's the receiver...

Both Armalon and Southpoint Firearms produce barrels for L1A1 straight-pulls. Might be worth a friendly phone call to either of them?

John, I think this was Nick's original thread with pics but hopefully he will confirm? https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=58337
