    Remington 341 Information

I recently bought a Remington 341 made In 1936. I would like to know about the rifle. A few quick things I noticed is the Machined parts, tube fed bolt action, unique feeding mechanism, original weaver scope, amazing accuracy. I would just like to know if there are any problems or anythings I should know about the guns. If you have any information it will be of use thanks.

    Dear Danktreebranch,
The Remington 341 is an excellent piece of pre-war (WWII) ingenuity! It's a grow-up version of the Remington 34 which preceded it. The 34 is relatively petite whereas the 341 was advertised as "a man-sized rifle." Most of the increase in size in in the stock rather than the barreled action. There's a great article about the Remington 341 by Chuck Hawks that you should Google. They are not particularly rare even though they were made for a relatively short period. About 132,000 were made. As excellent as this forum is, you might want to go to the Rimfire Central where you will find out more than you'd ever believe about American-made rimfires.
    Cheers, AQBill

As stated, fine rifle and they will last a lifetime. I presently only have the model 34 which I learned to shoot on in about 1962 or so...my great Uncle's gun at the time. The 341 is very similar and share many parts. I've only seen four model 34s, though they aren't considered rare or scarce. The last one sold that I saw was as parts for $60 at a show and was only missing a few small things. The 341s are just as hard to find around here, last one I found was a parts gun too. They show up in collections of older guys I think. They're a full size rifle and meant to shoot and carry every day. They could be relied on to put meat on the table... Both models are great guns...you won't likely have a breakdown in either gun. First time in years I've heard anyone ask about either. I think one of the other forum members here has a model 34 also...he showed us once.
    Regards, Jim
