M16 Bipod

Hey Gang -1st post under the new set-up, usually the Knife Forum. Any way today I was given what I thought was an early M16 Bipod. It was heavier, better made, OD, and had a can/bottle opener built into a leg. The opener was spring loaded you pull it up and flip it around to use, comes out the bottom of the leg. A whole lot different than what I used in the army. Is it for an M16 or possibly M1 or M14 icon

I don't know about the bottle/can opener, but I have a m16 bipod with cleaning rod and case to attach to a web belt as issued in 1967. I know it's original because I brought it back from RVN.

joem-Thx for the response. At first glance I thought it was like all the others we were issued in the army, canvas or nylon carrying case, cheap, but very functional bipod.This one has even more than my prior description. It also has a built-in wire cutter where the spring is located just below the barrel retainers at the top. Checked w/ my retired army friends, even guys who were issued the early M16 icon

's. They figured out the wire cutter. I sure missed it. The closest example I have seen was in "Small Arms of the World" Smith & Smith page 655, 1973 edition. Photo not detailed enough to tell more. SKIP
