Replacing Grooved Handguard Mark 4 "T"

I am about to replace the grooved handguard. I have not taken this rifle apart before. Is there something here I should read before starting? Thanks

Remove the centre band and lift the handguard from the front.

    Just to add ..

Assuming a new old stock replacement is being fitted, before you colour and oil up the replacement, check fit it, you might find you need to remove a very small amount of material from the rebate, to allow it to fit comfortably under the ring.

Edit: Correction, remove a tiny amount, equally from the bottom if needed.

Grooved is what is on the rifle. It is a different color. I am ordering a plain version. Thanks PS you rebuilt the scope for this rifle. Joy to shoot. Cheers

The armourers didn't worry about colour when they fitted furniture.

What does turfing it mean? Oh I get it. Kicking it to the side. Not so much it looks bad but when I’m shooting and I grip with my left hand the little bugger squeaks. No big deal I suppose just wanted to fix it. Cheers

You could fit three biscuits across the crack and glue the whole lot just like the armourers would have done.
