    USN Contract Pith Helmet

I inherited from my father a USN pith helmet (photos attached). It is medium green in color and is marked "USN Contract N140 62236s-19047B." There is a USMC EGA affixed to the helmet. My father was a Marine Corps Reservist. Before he passed, he told me he believed the helmet/EGA combination was a legitimate post-WWII combination. However, the research I've done indicates that the USMC wore only tan-colored pith helmets. There are several threads on the internet with the same USN-contract pith helmet & EGA combination, but conventional wisdom appears to be that someone put the two together to increase the amount they could ask for the helmet. Does anyone have any additional insights? Thank you in advance.
