Can't Decide: Winchester Model 101 Pigeon Grade XTR Featherweight

I was offered a*Winchester Model 101 Pigeon Grade XTR Featherweight SN PK483503E it comes in the original leather and cloth case with engraved outdoors small game scene on a Frenchicon grayed (silver) receiver. Doesn't look like this shotgun was shot and if it was not much. He's asking $800.00 cash. I noticed Made is Japanicon stamped into the barrel which almost immediately turned me off.* After sleeping on it, I'm wondering if $800.00 is a good deal I see them going for over $1000.00 on GunBroker like this one > https://www.gunbroker.com/item/829911251 .

At the sametime though, I NEED an M1icon Garand because I want to join the CMP shoot at the range, so buying the shotgun (which I would use) would delay that purchase.

    Any thoughts?

$800 is a quite nice price for that shotgun. $1k, maybe $1,100 is about what I’d expect to get for it if I had one.

A fine shotgun like this one won’t really depreciate with non-abusive use.
On the other hand, a Garandicon will pretty much continually appreciate over the years.

The Winchester won’t do anything a $600 used Browning Citori won’t do.
The Garand, on the other hand, is really cool and unique.
    I vote Garand!

That's a great point, I guess I lost sight of what I want it for, just shooting at the trap range. I used my old Savage 18guage and Mongomery Wards (aka Mossburg 500A) 12ga for hunting.
