Information on Unit Markings Needed 1871 Mauser Single Shot Rifle

The markings on the butt plate are: B.4R10. Underneath is the number 5. Can someone point me to a reference to interpret the markings? I think the B.4 refers to Bay 4. Just in case, if anyone knows what the unit markings are, please let me know.

    Thanks a heap!
