If one is & one isn't it probably just indicates a replacement part fitted at some time.

As an aside, shortly after I started looking seriously at No32's (of necessity) I hit exactly the problem that Peter describes above - the deflection lead screw binding. He very kindly sorted out the problem for me, but even more importantly, he explained to me how it occurs. It's so obvious........once you know!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. My new sunshade arrived today! Im blown away, not just by how quick it arrived but how nice this thing is.

Just want to say a massive thanks to waco16 for helping me out. I really do appreciate it. Infact i appreciate everybody's help on this forum.

I have attached pictures of how it arrived with me, top quality, really clean and bright. Also fits like a glove, coupled with the modified and blued 8BA cheese head screw.

As nice as it looks it just screams out "BRAND NEW" with everything else being old, so i have blackened it and lightly rubbed back with wire wool.
Looks pretty good so now just have to leave it and let it naturally darken by itself. I just gave it a push!
