Price check on LC ammo in sealed can?

I've come accross someone wanting to sell (2) 600 round cans of LC .30 Carbine ammo. The cans, w/keys, are still sealed. Not sure of the date. He wants $300 per can. Is this $25 per box a reasonable price? The last carbine ammo I bought was Winchester white box for $12 a box. (purchased a couple years ago) This LC is more than double that. I know prices have really gone up, but is this now in the ballpark of being reasonable?

Thats purdy steep to me. The CMPicon has Aguilla for about half that.

On one hand that works out to .50 Cents a round, and I concur a bit pricey.

On the other hand CMPicon has been out for awhile and there's a long list(me included) who have been waiting a long time for more to come in.

Pretty much a judgment call buddy!

The CMPicon price on Aguilla is $16.40 delivered. Now some might might argue, but I would take Lake City 30 carbine ammo any day over Aguilla. I think $0.50 per round for US Lake City carbine ammo is a good buy. I saw USGI Lake City carbine ammo at the Raleigh, NC gun show for $38.00 per box. I wouldn't sell any I had for $0.50 per round.

If I had access to a couple of cans of sealed Lake City 30 carbine for $0.50 per round I would buy it. The days of $10 or $12 per box carbine ammo are long gone.

As Greg O mentioned, the CMP has been out of ammo for a long time and when it comes in, it will not fill the demand.

Stockpile some USGI ammo while you can.

I havn't seen any sealed spam cans selling for less in a while. If you have the extra cash, get it and put it away. At a gun shop or sporting good store you would pay more and be taxed. I've been shopping gun shows this winter and have been finding some good deals. I got ten boxes of Aguilla $15.00 a box no tax in Jan. Ten boxes of L.C. $17.00 ea.(lucked out on that)! A local sporting goods has Rem. FMJ at $24.95 plus tax, I pick up one per wk. Got a box of Win. FMJ at Kame Apart Mart this winter for $15.95 but it was there last one. (darn) Best to keep your eyes open and get the best deal you can....Frank

Remington-UMC FMJ at a local Wal Mart is $27.95 a box right now so it might pay to get it and just hold onto it.

Funny as I thought about this for a couple days, I was going to say the same thing.

I sold a case of 1200 rds (2X600) Winchester for $1000 two weeks ago. I thought I was nuts asking that...and the buyer was nuts for paying it.
However, the box was in fine condition, nice markings, etc., etc..He must have been a collector??

Thanks for all the opinions. I will give this guy a call and see if he will deal anymore. Probably end up buying it either way.
