    Question Help with: Springfield 1848 .69 cal - Rifle Validation ( ?'s )

Is there anyone on the forum that can help me validate an 1848 Springfield .69 cal smoothbore musket?

Want to make sure it isnt a repro thats been "De-Farbed"

I have the Springfield Armory shoulder weapons from 1795-1968 book by Robert W.D. Ball, but the section is pretty narrow on this type of rifle.

Google searched alot and looked over GB, EB & other ACW and BP websites...

I could really use some expertise on this subject....
