Found it, the receiver in the pic does not look good enough to resurrect.
Are these viable for a build?

I don't work for sarco and everyone will for sure get a different kit. That said if I had not just bought two Bren kits and 1 Bren stripped receiver (another $100 and I would have the price of this kit) I would be all over this deal for a kit or two or three. Still might. The kit is Not cut like a mgs kit thru the locking area. Yes the tip is cut and might be a hard area to rebuild to make perfect. But the rest to me is a good cut receiver. Or at least a good receiver to mix match parts with to make a better receiver to rebuild. mgs cut and this one.
Barrel, 5 mags, and the rest, forget receiver and you still have a good deal. I'm trying so hard not to buy 2 or 3 more. I paid a lot more money to get a couple of Bren parts kits a lot more money, but they had humpback stocks.
Of course you never know what you might get. Still you can always send it back.

I just bought one of these kits. I have always had an admiration for the Bren gun but found semi-auto guns to be too expensive, and the parts kits are usually $500+.

We'll see what condition the receiver is in when it arrives. I have never built a parts kit gun, if nothing else the barrel, mags and other parts are worth the asking price.

Well good Luck may you get a great kit. But like you said the parts are worth far more than the cost of the kit. I would bet broken down and sold you could double your money.
There is another seller out there Robert Bowman and I'm told his receiver are cut just a little nicer. Also cost $100 more without extra mags.
I'm planning to start welding a Bren up in 2 weeks myself. Have had enough Bren parts kits sitting around long enough. It's going to be welding time after I do the next gunshow.

Well, the parts Kit came, I ground some slag and this is what came out of the box:

    The good news:

Firstly, you do indeed get all the parts shown in the Sarco listing. I was at a loss to find even some of the tiny retaining pins missing from this kit. The included barrel does appear to have a good bore on it, I still need to deep clean mine to get all the grease out but I didn't see any obvious problems with it after putting a few patches through the bore. Also, the receiver is cut as seen in the Sarco photo. I do believe this receiver can be rebuilt as the amount of material removed is not excessive. The end section may be a bit of a challenge since they cut through the locking pin holes, but the locking recess and barrel trunion are intact, although the barrel locking collar recess will need a bit of work. Also, none of the major markings on the receiver I received have been touched.

    The Bad News:

For those who are looking for an all matching gun, do not buy this kit. The receiver parts are matching, but the rest of this kit is a mix-master from various marks of Bren and in varying conditions. I received, a receiver Mk3, a Barrel Mk2 with Mk1 carry handle, charging handle Mk1, Bipod Mk1 just from what I can discern. However, since all I wanted was a fun range toy if this ever gets off the ground, this does not bother me all that much. I will say that all the parts except the bolt and bolt carrier have a heavy layer of preservative grease and a lot of the parts have surface rust on them. If you are willing to spend some time boiling and carding, this should not be impossible to remedy though.

I think this will be a challenging but fun winter project for me.

Now I really wish that I had bought a couple of those kits. The mk1 bipod and charging handle are worth more than the mk2 ones. If you want to trade??
This style cut to me is far better than the mgs style cut receiver. Still thinking that was a great deal that I missed.
One of the "kits" that I just received (from another company) was missing so MANY small parts it is not funny. To be fair the pics shown were correct in what was there, showing again you must study the pics and not believe the word "parts kit" and expect the normal common stuff to be there. Of course the main reason I bought the kit was for the folding metal buttstock and also the humpback wood buttstock. Hard to find items here in the US.
    Good Luck with your build.

I'm a fan of the adjustable bipod and this one is in really good condition, so I don't think I'm willing to trade.

That said, Sarco does still show these parts kits in stock, although they raised the price to $385 and they may not be as good a deal at that price.

I just wanted to add an addendum here, in that I gave the barrel I received a proper cleaning today. A pot of boiling water, a nylon brush and a few oiled patches and the barrel was practically gleaming. The outside surfaces had some surface rust patches and a lot of preservative grease, but I honestly don't think the barrel I received had ever been shot, or if it had not very much.
