    REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK ID

Just purchased the rifle and based on the patient date of October 1902 on top of tang I assume it to be a #2. There is no marking on the barrel, but it looks like a prior owner may have replaced the barrel or aggressively sanded it. I've not had time to do a chamber cast, but think it is chambered in 7X57 Mauser. Front and rear sights are not original.
With the stock removed, there are numbers stamped on left side of upper tang. These are small number 3,4, and 9 with spaces between each. Then in larger numbers together is 205. The 205 is also stamped in the upper tang recess of the stock.
    Any info is appreciated.

Upon closer inspection, the date on my tang is "OCT. 22 1901", NOT 1902.

years ago I found a forum that addressed rolling blocks - perhaps it would help if you googled around for them - might get better answers.
