    Dr Payne .....

Good to see Rog & Dave yesterday,

Must apologise for not saying goodbye, but I did see Dave, it was a last minute thing going there and was a perfect opportunity to drop off a fellow members items to another dealer (Moderators this is about Enfields) 2x Enfields were delivered.

I did notice the decline in traders ... ? Maybe due to the Malvern clash ? still seemed very light on the ground when I left.

Didn't see any bargains either, some silly prices as normal, even some things I recognise from 12 years ago.......

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Hi Geoff! It was great to see you ydy, even for a short while. Yes, you'd think that arms & militaria show organisers would be sensible enough not to book two sizable shows on the same day, & both in the West Midlands! However, 'our' show often seems to clash with the November Malvern date. It seemed reasonably well attended early on, but just died at lunchtime. Having said that I was happy as I have a sale pending for a 4T to a friend of a friend, & sold some other odds & sods such as bayonets, a No5 mills (empty!), & so on. So, no complaints here....

That 'friend of a friend' took up a lot of your time at the show and he couldn't stop talking about the No.4T all the way home. Eric was OK, he slept most of the way back but as I was driving I got the whole SP.

At least Eric's now stopped driving when he has a nap in the car.....

    So you're Stanforth!

Yes, it's a nice rifle, I've owned it since 1997, but have slimmed down my WW2 stuff an awful lot recently. I shall be working on the scope this afternoon - I've only managed to catch the horizontal wire twice with my hulking great fingers, & bent it. Third (& hopefully final) attempt is now under way!
