    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     Well it has been a bit busy as the 2 expended main gun cases attest on the ground.
    So whats with the spare boot on the running board and the tanker at the rear with a Garandicon ready to take a pot shot maybe it is a case of "You cannot hit a thing, let the GI up there f-christ sake so he can hit it."
    (Sorry for the profanity but its what they would have said along those lines but in I gather a more colourful script.)

    Just a guess, one of the soldiers was wounded and the boot was removed to tend to the wound and the tanker picked up the wounded mans M1icon rifle ?

    Another guess is that that is one of the crew members boot, and he's changed out of those and into his spare boots for any of a number of possible reasons -- including they were worn out.

    I'm guessing a sniper close, the TC is down in the hatch and not on the .50
    Real men measure once and cut.
