    100rd Drum Winding Bracket

    Hi There,
I have been looking for one of these 100rd Drum Winding Brackets for a very long time, none available anywhere, I 'm currently restoring a re-purposed Drum Equipment Chest and have decided to have the Bracket made up. I have countless photos of them but it's difficult to estimate accurate measurements from them. Would anyone on this forum have one they could measure up for me. Thanks in advance, InglisFan.

Ah, what you need is the factory drawing, D.D.(E). 2712 03/01/1941 Holder, Filling Magazine Bren .303" Mk II Which should be held at the Royal Armouries Library at Leeds in the Pattern Room collection. I think I may have copied it but since I am unable to access the vast majority of the sheets I was allowed to copy back when it was still owned by the MoD due to a PC dying and misplacing the back up disks I can't say for definite or supply it i'm sorry to say. hopefully one of the people I shared the thousand odd sheets with will see this and be able to help.

I do have the two sheets scanned in for the Mk I box D.D.(E). 2720 which I can send down the wire (PM me with a address) if its of use and the two drawings for the 10 x 100rd magazine chest D.D.(E). 2247.

I believe that the Royal Armouries will provide a copy of the D.D.(E). for a fee as it's not of a pressure bearing part and not for commercial purposes but I've not done it myself and my contacts left years ago. I'm sure someone here can advise.

    All the best

    Tom

Thanks tombear That's a really great reply and any info you can provide is greatly appreciated, however if someone has the winding bracket maybe they could provide me with some measurements in a private messege, Thanks in advance, InglisFan.

I have one downstairs in the crate with the drums. I can get you the measurements.
This bracket also used to be mounted on the mk2 Universal (Bren gun) carriers. If you want an original, perhaps get onto the maple leaf up forum and see if anyone has a spare they will part with.

    Hi stencollector,
I would really appreciate those measurements that would be really great, as it happens I just recently joined the MLU Forum with these measurements in mind but I find the forum difficult to navigate, I had noticed the photos of their reproduction brackets on their forum several weeks back, they look pretty good, only have the one drum myself, lucky to have it. Thanks Again.
