    Command workshop

Can anyone advise what command workshops served the L42 sniper rifle and were operational in the 80s?

Fairly sure it was: 27 District Workshop REME - Warminster, but some of our rifles when we were 16 PARA Brigade went through Bordon

    Steve,
Definately 27 District Warminster as on one occasion I took them there as we prepared for the border tour in 73, and waited for them I believe on prior arrangement. Bordon which was on our door step did a few and I believe 3 PARA's were done there. Most of our transferees went to the SASC at Warminster from 2 PARA perhaps thats why!!
Maybe they were lonely and wanted to see us lol

Steve, Have a look at the link, if you look to page 710 you'll see here was a lot more Base and Command workshops then many know of, 42 Command workshop was just down the road from me, two of My brothers served there Aprenticeship there.

A Majority of these were manned and run by Civilians....... 42 was nearly all Civilian staff.
