Yes, all that "toxic masculinity" and "white privilege," just shameful. I'm glad I'm "woke." -- NOT. Let's see how long this post lasts LOL

When you see how the Japs fought for every square inch of these small islands, in the middle of the ocean, it gives a small indication of the nightmare that an invasion of mainland Japanicon would have been and how many allied lives it would have cost.

    Invasion

My father was en route. When the Japs abruptly surrendered, he became one of the first contingents of the occupation force instead of the invasion force. Although Truman was not one of my favorite Presidents, I bless him for dropping those bombs.

Exactly why they dropped them in the first place as the casualties to invade the mainland would have been in the millions you only have to see some of the training films that the populace was preparing for the invaders women & children with pikes, strapping explosives and diving under tanks and so on, thing is if Japanicon had not surrendered then the magazine of nuclear weapons was empty AFAIK they did not have a 4th weapon.
    1. Manhattan bomb 2. Hiroshima 3. Nagasaki and that was it they did not have any reserve of weapons grade material left the only other way would have been a lengthy and costly blockade and slowly starve the country but given the fervor of a demi god leading the people then it may have not worked, could have sent Russiaicon in they did not care for combat losses just get it done!
