    Have you looked at this?

It's the PDF file that you need and the dimension look pretty clear on it.

D.S. Solutions, John, I think his name is, yes he's a good chap. If there is a delay I expect that he is away or unavailable for some other reason.

It looks like others have also had some problems when trying to make a transit from these drawings too. These drawings don't look too bad to me and I have had to work from worse drawings occasionally over the years but, as you point out, a few dimensions are either missing or can't be read. So unless someone is able to produce a better set of drawings, which is probably unlikely, you need to find the dimensions that you need by "using other methods". I would suggest that you produce a series of "old school" simple 2D, single view drawings clearly identifying which dimensions you wish to know, identify each of these drawings with a letter or number and then post an image of each drawing here and ask someone with an original chest if they can take measurements for you for the dimensions that you have indicated.

On your 3D image you have asked for the hole positions for "block 15" which are missing/can't be read from the drawings. The (screw) hole positions can be seen on the drawings but not the actual dimensions that you need. However, there is another 2 screw positions that are marked on the drawing and these screw positions are dimensioned at 3/4" off each side/long edge. From the drawing we can see that the dimension which you are interested in, that is shown but un-dimensioned, is further in off the edge than 3/4" on both sides of block 15, i.e. more than 3/4". From the 3/4" dimension, on the drawing that we do have, we can see that the designer/draughtsman chose a nice sensible round figure because there was no reason for him not to and we can see from the drawing that our missing figure is more than 3/4" and we can probably assume that our missing figure is also likely to be a reasonably nice round figure and we can see from the drawing that it will be more than 3/4". A reasonably nice round figure that the designer/draughtsman could have chosen for our missing figure could be 1" but we don't know if this is would work until we have tried it against the other dimensions on the drawing which we have got on the drawing. Any dimension that has been arrived at by conjecture or similar means needs to be very carefully checked against the drawing and the dimensions which are available to ensure that the dimension that has been arrived at is actually going to work in practice and is not going to clash with other dimensions.

Don't forget the tongue & groove end caps on the lid.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928
