Ross 1905 with Mk III sight.

Any tips on how to remove a Mk III sight from a Mk II barrel? Am trying to strip down a scrap barrel but don't see any obvious way of getting the perfect Mk III (flat top) sight off.

There's a single machine screw on the bottom, just in front of the micrometer wheel and also a very small flush screw in the wheel itself, but with both of these removed gently tapping the sight from the chamber end with a brass hammer doesn't produce any result.

I don't want to damage this sight and won't apply any force until I can see how it's secured but haven't been able to find any information at all on the topic. It's not even clear how the sight itself comes apart as no removable fasteners are visible.

Any and all information much appreciated.

Did you get that figured out?

I suggest that you go to this site, and download the Ross Manual. Pg. 28 has the information you require.
