If I were going to rebarrel a M-10, I think I'd go with .284 groove diameter, to take advantage of the wide variety of bullets readily available.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I understand your point, and I can't fault your logic, but then it wouldn't be an authentic .280 Ross. If I were going to build a custom rifle with a new chambering and only using a Ross action, I'd go with .264 and open a whole world of potential. Or maybe a .300, if I were going to go hunting something big. I've seen a very tidy-looking .300 Win Mag (unfortunately made from an M-10). The result would be more appropriate on the nitroexpress or AR forums, of course. On the other hand, if I wanted to build a true replica of a classic Ross Deer Stalker, it wouldn't feel right going to all that work and ending up with some fan-boy Creedmoor, or a Blaser wannabe. Just my feeling.

Would be nice to see some photos of this setup sometime; if convenient?

I agree, even if it's still a work in progress. We love seeing interesting rifles go together.

The Krieger was delivered at least a full 4 inches longer. Having said that. It is a gorgeous barrel. I looked at it with a borescope and it as close to perfect as I've ever seen.

It's not that I demand this kind of perfection. I would have gladly gone with a less expensive barrel but Krieger is the only barrel maker that makes a barrel large enough to fit a Ross action. Everyone else's barrel shank is too small, at least everyone I could find and I looked pretty hard.

Now...add your kindly gunsmith costs...and you can see where this is not an inexpensive project.
I have a couple of M10 Ross rifles with shot out barrels and an R10 in similar condition. Recently had a conversation with a gunsmith in the Fraser Valley BC about re-barreling these. He suggested IBI barrel maker from Chilliwack BC as they can provide a barrel blank with a larger shank that will fit the Ross receiver. below is a link to their website

I see they have no "About" page. Is China making barrels for export now?
