It would definitely be a pretty expensive gamble. If I was listing and it was correct, I would certainly have all the important characteristics captured in the photos. A buyer shouldn't have to work so hard to find out all the particulars of a potential purchase.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For that amount of money the seller should list it accurately and that you can easily discern all markings/

Not replying to you directly but to the sentiment really.
I sell a lot on GunBroker. If you're doing any kind of volume it's easy to omit things. Personally, I'm bad about leaving out pictures of serial numbers -- it just doesn't occur to me most of the time! I'll occasionally even forget to take a picture of a barrel bore.

One thing anyone could do to help out a seller (in a "help me help you") type arrangement, is to ask questions early.

Fellas, you'd be shocked by how many people wait until 5 hours before the auction ends to ask me some really off-the-wall specific question. It's hard to get where the item is stored and get a quality answer out in a time crunch!
