    Austrian or German Portapee.

I put this in the military gear forum as well, but I have to ask if anyone out there can recognize the portapee in the picture or ascribe it to a unit or military element. I doubt it was originally mounted on the bayonet since it would make it impossible to insert into the frog. Then again, this is new territory for me. If someone could give me more information and perhaps a value as well, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you. I found the correct unit for this particular troddel. Now I'm on the hunt for the correct frog. The troddel should wrap around the frog, not the scabbard. IMA makes reproduction frogs and from what I've gathered thus far, finding a period correct leather frog is very difficult and/or expensive.

Here's an original: WWI era German bayonet frog brown leather | eBay Lots of reproductions and at least one other original although he's asking $95 for the other. Three days left so could wind up going for a lot more.
