    1917 SMLE

Since the movie "1917" is doing so well, i thought I would share my 1917 SMLE. This was my first milsurp acquisition. Somehow she stayed together through the past 103 years and still shoots great!

The movie "1917" is going to sell a lot of No. 1 Mk III* rifles. Mines a 1942. Sad part is that the bayonet is worth almost as much as the rifle.
One should always check the headspace on any Lee-Enfield. Even if the S/N's match.

I had the good fortune (posted much earlier in a previous thread) to pick up a PRISTINE 1918 SMLE. As near as I can figure, it had been made but never issued prior to war's end and was released into sale to the civilian market. The only thing that needed attention was the varnish that some idiot had applied to the woodwork. Lacquer thinner, light sanding, and a re-coat with linseed oilicon put 'er back to rights.
