Just picked up one of the Norincos from auction for about $700 shipped the other day.
They’re not super common in the US but pretty reasonable when you run across them.
It’s a good looking rifle I’ll probably be keeping!

I have a Norinco here myself, they're way cheaper here...you just need to look for the forged bolt and preferably an earlier receiver. I have a 2007 and it'll repeat on the four inch gong at 200 from a bag if I'm careful...iron sights... I don't intend to sell mine either.
    Regards, Jim

I agree with BAR. I have an earlier norinco M14s and I can get similar results at 200 yards, even with cheap barnaul or mfs ammo. I'll never part with it, assuming we make it through the current government's tenure.

I have a Springfield M1Aicon Standard that will outshoot me all day. I love that rifle she sports a Tiger birch stock. Been looking for a nice FAL but if I had to chose I would pick a M1A. Wish I could find a nice Norinco scout version.

I've always found these Norinco M1Aicon's interesting, I assume they are licensed copies?

How close do they conform to Milspec?

Can't say about the licensing but the milspec varies. USGI parts seen to go straight across but you need to fit the bolts pretty carefully for accuracy. I had no problems as I used all Norinco parts to resurrect mine. It was just a bare carcass when I was belabored with it, needed stock and sights and FH. The trigger mech didn't work right either, hammer would follow bolt so I had to swap some parts there to make serviceable again. There have been lots that use the receiver and fill it with cast off Israeli parts complete. Lots of discussion in other forums about using complete USGI parts as the receivers are out of the BATF bad books too.

Cheers Jim, I've often wondered if Norinco would import some straight pulls to the UKicon.

Currently, the only M14icon option we have here are a few well used ex Israeli Defence Force M14's.

The newly manufactured Lux Defence tech examples have dried up and I have a hankering for an M14 and Garand

Unless I'm mistaken, they'd have to be made as straight pull and documented at source. I doubt Norinco would do anyone such a favor...
