It really does seem like they just don't give a ****.

Did you, like me, get "the letter", a week or 2 later, asking if you needed counselling/emotional support to help you cope with the upset of being a "victim of crime"?

My letter went straight in file 13.

Fellow Aussie here, same old story had our 2 daughters cars vandalised I was 99.9% sure who it was and told the police where he lived, guess what oh! just get the insurance to fix the cars.
No real policing just public relations issue for the police.
I visited the local Police station 2 days later and spoke to the station chief, showed him the photos of the shoe prints on the roof of the car (as this lowlife ran over the roof) the chief did not want to know, even said it could have been anyone wearing the shoes who lived in the house, all I got was a bucket full of excuses/crap from him, so I said ok, If I go around there with 4 mates with baseball bats and remedy the problem, well he just had no words to say, so I thanked him for wasting my time and left, he did not even say goodbye to me.
I am waiting till this lowlife gets a new car or similar then justice will prevail.
Was a waste of time calling police, they are only here in Aussie to raise revenue for the govt only.

Had a family of near do wells years ago down the street. Caught one with a prybar one night at my garage door. Opened the back door and sent my Doberman to have a chat with him.
Few weeks later they tried to break into my neighbours truck, when he confronted them they started to beat him. I came out the door in my underwear with a baseball bat.
Nothing like a hairy half nude Ukrainian with a baseball bat to put the fear of god in you. The neighborhood stood up and didn't put up with what they were doing .
They moved along soon after, a blue collar neighborhood that works hard for what they have doesn't need parasites stealing from you.

Sorry to hear about this happening to you, It has been done to me more than once. I too remember the days when doors were left ajar day and night.
