UIC serial numbers restarted with their Mk 2/1 production. They did use the improper OS markings in their production until around 300 were produced. Now were factory Mk 2's made at UIC and then rebuilt as 2/1? Anything is possible but I have yet to see a factory Mk 2

Cheers Lance. Agreed. I've had both very low & somewhat higher number (in the hundreds) UIC 2/1's. I've also had them both with the OS1400 optical stores number & engraved up as 2/1's, as well as scopes marked as Mk2's but assembled as 2/1's. So, I guess all permutations are possible! Somewhere in one of my cupboards there's also a UIC Mk2 that is built on a Mk1 engraved tube, but with the engraving altered to Mk2 specs. I suppose the fact that UIC were involved in development work lends itself to these findings.

    P.S. Lance, I'm assuming both 19 & 294 are 2/1's?

All the Mk 2 and Mk 2/1 marked UIC's in my archive are in Mk 2/1 form.

As for the recycled Mk I tube.... You bring back bad memories. This girl and her matching rifle and can slipped through my fingers a couple of years ago. Oh the pain, it was paired with a '41 Savage....

Hi Lance..........the one that got away? Bad luck!

As you've shown me yours I'll show you mine........

The stripped example came in a sorry state from India. It was one where there was nothing to be lost by stripping & refurbishing it sympathetically. It had its original deflection drum missing, but the range drum was present & is a Mk3 type, suggesting the scope left the UIC factory as a 2/1, although marked as a Mk2. I shall rebuild it as a 2/1.
