You were right. I went back today and looked at it again and it does have a type 1 band. I'm still a little worried about the band since it is stamped "UI" on the outside tang but it looks like the fake ones out of Carlsbad. Were the original Inland type 1 barrel bands marked "UI"?

Yikes, mine isn't in the same place, it is on the shank of the sling loop. Yours definitely looks genuine.

If it is on the sling loop, the lettering will be thinner/fine lined.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

Exactly how would you have based your assessment about the originality of his part?
My sig: Consider adding IP/S'G's to my registry. I've found 3 sets of consecutives & WILL immediately inform you of one if you won't cut my throat like someone else did, I do it to help us both. https://grandrapids.wufoo.com/forms/zzlnt0519k86xs/

I went ahead and purchased it since everything else I have been seeing in shops and at shows in California and Arizona is running $1,100+. I figured what the hell, I will be able to afford some replacement parts for the ones that are not original. I cannot pick it up until the 25th, but they did let me take a couple of pictures of the barrel band so please let me know what you think. The lettering size/font and location resembles examples of the forged bands from Carlsbad that I have seen pictures of and doesn't match the photos I have seen of reportedly legitimate bands.

Might just be the lighting, but the band looks a bit too shiny. In the first picture the swivel color doesn't look like it matches the band, but again it could be just the lighting. Hope to see more pictures after the 25th! - Bob

Thanks! I'll post them as soon as I get them. I'm also interested in what all of you think of the stock reference it possibly having been sanded and possibly refinished or stained. I have my suspicions but I am no expert.
